This morning, I had a service appointment for the RX8. So, I headed over to the Stoney Trail Mazda dealership and dropped off the car. I started a 700m loop around the parking lot and soon had 10km under my belt. I had done the same thing a month ago but then it had been rain, sleet and howling winds. Today was fairly benign, some cloud cover with light winds. After two hours, the brake pads had been fixed and I was on my way back to Cochrane. A quick snack of tea, toast and marmalade and I was heading down the 1A. The weather was turning and the rain came. Luckily, I have my 3 in 1 Glad rain jacket (5c a pop). It didn't last long and I was cooking. Back into Cochrane along the river. There on the path was a dog walker with six dogs, on the other side was a child walker with six kids. I think they were using the same leads.

I read an article the other day about a lady in Halifax that had decided to run a 10km race in barefeet. At the end she said that her feet didn't feel too bad but her ankles, knees, hips and back hurt. I've been following this barefoot running trend with interest. I must admit when I started the Marathon Quest 250 I throught it would be neat to run all 250 marathons in 3 pairs of shoes. On marathon #028 I got injuried and part of the reason was worn out runners. The two and a half weeks off gave me lots of time to think and I realised I like shoes with support. I don't have a shoe manufacturer sponsoring me so I've relied on the generosity of independant sport stores and concerned individuals. So far I've used 9 pairs of shoes for the 90 plus marathons and this includes 8 different brands. I have no time to break in a pair of shoes so it's straight on for a marathon. So far three blisters!!!!!!!
